A combination of design and materials helped Futurespace and Schiavello deliver a new head office for Reece in Cremorne, Victoria.

Looking to create a hub for their 8000 employees, Reece settled on a historic old warehouse that would need to be transformed into a new head office, reflective of the brand. The brief for Futurespace and Schiavello was to create a new head office that would connect their employees and enable innovation and inspiration, while showcasing and representing the Reece brand. The resulting design is an exceptional experience centre, which has been aptly named ‘The Works’.

The new office site has a rich history, having previously served as a Rosella warehouse. The historic facade was retained, behind which, a substantial seven-storey, modern space now stands tall.

The design has strong connections to water and plumbing – from copper pipes, to reflective ‘water-like’ surfaces. Timber flooring has been artfully incorporated in order to represent the home spaces of Reece’s domestic clients, who are such an important component in their business.

Havwoods European Oak timber flooring was selected for its perfect product tone and grain characteristics found in the Venture Plank product, Aspen Raw. The prefinished engineered boards were attractive to the design and build team for many reasons, including the efficiencies from not requiring any pre or post prep, which translated into significant savings in time and money during the installation of the flooring.
